Here's why 7 days lands right for most jobs. A weekend warrior can load on Saturday and Sunday, then keep going after work through the week. A busy family can chip away a little at a time instead of burning themselves out in one day. And if the weather turns, you've got room to wait out the rain and still finish.

Projects that usually wrap up well inside a week:

• A single-car or two-car garage cleanout
• A bathroom or small kitchen remodel
• A basement or attic purge
• Yard debris, fencing, and light landscaping
• Most single-layer roof tear-offs on an average home

When you need more than a week

Some jobs run longer, and that's fine. Bigger projects like a whole-house or estate cleanout can take two or three weekends, especially when family is helping from out of town or you're sorting keepsakes as you go. A phased remodel where you're demoing one room at a time also stretches out.

What actually starts and stops the clock

The rental period starts the day we deliver, not the day you booked. So if you reserve for next Thursday, your week begins Thursday. You don't lose days sitting on the calendar waiting for delivery.

The period ends on your scheduled pickup day. On that day, the trailer needs to be loaded correctly and ready to haul. That means nothing piled above the top rail, the load spread out instead of stacked in one corner, and no prohibited items mixed in. Two things that can complicate a pickup on time:

• An overloaded trailer. If it's heaped over the rail, we legally can't haul it down the road and may have to reschedule.

How to make your rental window work harder

The biggest time-saver is having a plan before the trailer shows up. When it lands and you already know what's going in and roughly in what order, you fill it faster and waste fewer days deciding.

• Book the delivery for right before your work actually starts. There's no prize for having it sit empty for three days.
